I was really nervous and anxious about what the 1st day of bike riding would be like. In the morning we met Paul, Pete and Ricky who were going to help us through out the bike tour. First up we got taught all the safety precautions and then we took off on our morning ride to West Cowie. This ride was incredibly strange as we had lots of head wind and tail wind. I didnt really like all this wind because it always confused and frustrated me. We were riding along the beach but it was dark and grey so it wasnt nice to look at. After the beach we turned left to and we started riding next to the fields. It was windy but the fields still looked great. TheWest Cowie loop was 21km and when we arrived back at campus we were all greatful to rest our sore legs and have lunch. All of this was great untill we found out that we had another loop to do after lunch. The next loop we were doing was called the Warooka loop. This time we started at a steep hill which was a good chalenge to start off with. We then rode to Warooka to drop our letters off to our parents. The warooka loop was alot harder then all of us thought. There was a nearly 100km wind against us which made it extremely difficult to ride, and the long stretch home was agonising as it never seemed to end. I was finally relieved to arrive back at campus 1st with Nick broadbridge after the 25km Warooka loop. After today it added up to a 46km which im sure all of the boys were proud of doing. After the cycle tour that day i am sure everyone was happy to just have some free time and relax. After relaxing on my verhanda with Harry Barnes, Matt Faull, Jackson Myhill, James Pritchard and Jack Viney we all took our eskis to the shed for dinner. For dinner that night I had cut up beef with sauce which was very filling and it tasted great. It was still very windy so all 25 of us slept in the shed that night as we listened to Moff's great stories. We all went to sleep at around 9:45 pm.
Day 2 Cycle Tour: 26th August Wednesday 2009
We woke up at 7 am in the morning to have our breakfast. I felt quiet pumped and ready for the ride ahead. At nine am we headed up on the bus to the Innes national park. After yesterdays ride I felt like I knew what was waiting for us and that I was ready for the challenge ahead. We started off riding together at the start. There was still lots of wind making it hard to ride but apart from that the ride was quiet peaceful. On the way we saw lots of road kill which was horrible and plus the headwind the whole way made it extremely painful. We had a little stop at this big hill where Moff stood at the edge to take videos of us but unfortunatley as I was going down the chain fell off and I had to wait for Paul to fix this. I wasnt happy becuase suddenly being top 3 I went to last place. The most painful bit was when we were going up the never ending hill which finally did end but it seemed to go on for ever. After the massive hill we saw the fantastic light house. The wind was so strong it was blow
Nick Broadbridge and I took out at the front to form a little group and to support each other. This was the best part of the ride becuase we had the tail wind but best of all I had my two mates to support me the whole way. At the final huge mountain that everyone was dreading we kept on pumping it and gutting it out and we all finished at least 3km ahead of any of the other riders. We were extremely happy. We then went half way down the mountain to support the other people coming up. Overall 8 people made the climb with out stopping which was a great result. It was then all downhill from then with the tail wind as we glided back to the bus. The bike ride was only 33km but it was still very tough. This was by far better then yesterday and my legs didnt feel that bad either. After the bike ride we then had an hour of rest which we all just relaxed and snacked on food. It was windy again so we all had dinner in the shed. I had spahgetti bolonaise tonight. It was a bit cold but it tasted delicious. We again listened to Moff's stories abit freaked out about the ferals and what they do but apart from that it was a pretty good story.
Day 3 Cycle Tour: 27th August Thursday 2009
I woke up knowing that today was the last bike ride and that it was going to be the toughest. The best thing was that there was hardly a breeze which was excellent. We got on the bus again to Brentwood and unloaded all the bikes. The first couple of kilometers were ausome. It was just a dirt road with lots of bumps which I really like. I then saw Jack Viney towing little Jack and I later asked him if it was hard. He told me it was good fun and a challenge so I had a go. Like Jack said it was really tough but I enjoyed it as it was a good experience. The hardest bit was when a was towing jack through the thick grass for about 2km. It was extremely difficult and I was really happy to have completed it without stopping. After the grass land we had a big rest and this time Luke Robinson took on the challenge of towing little Jack. I felt alot faster riding by my self but I missed the company. We rode for another couple of kilometers untill our designated lunch spot. I didnt have much lunch but to my joy Seb Lou spilled his scroggin
